Schneider LC1F Contactor Repair
TeSys F contactors from LC1F115 to LC1F2100 overhauled with new contact sets, LX1F coils, pole carriers and auxiliaries, and tested for pick-up, drop-out and contact resistance per pole. The generator, compressor and wind-turbine contactor we rebuild more than any other — for UK sites and, by air freight, for US customers.

The range
Every LC1F frame, every wearing part
The TeSys F range is the high-current contactor in a large share of European-built machinery, standby generator sets and wind-turbine converter cabinets. It is well made and it wears in well-understood ways: the silver-alloy main contacts erode and pit until the poles run hot or weld; the contact springs lose pressure; the LX1F coil overheats in a warm cabinet or fails on a control-supply transient; the magnet faces pick up debris and the contactor chatters; and the LA1/LADN auxiliary blocks that feed the controller go intermittent.
A new LC1F630 or LC1F800 is a four-figure item on a lead time. An overhaul replaces every wearing part as a set — contacts, springs, coil where marginal, auxiliaries, arc chutes where eroded — on a frame that already matches the enclosure, the busbar drilling and the control wiring. The contactor is then tested as a unit, not just checked for closure, and the results go on the certificate against its serial number.

Testing
Proved, not just closed
Pick-up voltage at the bottom of the coil's tolerance band, so the contactor closes when the control supply sags. Drop-out voltage, so it releases when commanded. Contact resistance per pole with a micro-ohmmeter, balanced across the three poles, so they run cool at full current. Coil current and insulation resistance. Mechanical operation for chatter and bounce, and every auxiliary block proved in both positions. It is written on the certificate for the site engineer, with the parts fitted.
| Pick-up voltage | At or below lower coil tolerance limit |
| Drop-out voltage | Within the manufacturer's band |
| Contact resistance | μΩ / mΩ per pole, balanced |
| Insulation resistance | Pole-to-pole, pole-to-earth |
| Coil | Resistance and current at rated voltage |
| Auxiliaries | Every NO/NC proved |
FAQs
Frequently asked
How much does an LC1F overhaul cost against a new contactor?
Quoted after strip-down, but the working rule on the F400 and above is a third to a half of a new unit, and less where only contacts and a coil are needed. Diagnosis is quoted up front. On the small frames — F115 and F150 — a new contactor is often the better answer and we'll tell you.
My LC1F keeps welding. Will an overhaul fix it?
The overhaul replaces the welded contacts and any heat-damaged carriers. Repeated welding on the same duty is an application problem — an undersized frame for the inrush, a coil supply that dips under load and lets the contactor chatter, or the wrong utilisation category — and the strip-down report will say so, so it doesn't happen again.
Do you hold exchange stock for LC1F?
For fleet customers, yes — overhauled units held against your frame sizes and dispatched the day a failure is reported. See service exchange.
Do you repair LC1F contactors for US customers?
Yes, continuously. LC1F units travel between our Yorkshire workshop and US customers by air freight with the export paperwork handled. See repair for US operators.
